I have not dissapeared
01.19.04 (6:37 am)   [edit]
While I know my frequency of blogs may look like that sometimes, I just have been addicted lately to Wren's Nest (http://www.witchvox.com/xwren...).

Yet another partial week
01.19.04 (6:33 am)   [edit]
I started a new job December 15 .... this means that I am starting my sixth week there and I have only been at the client site a full week once in that time:
first week: off-site orientation first day
second week: they were closed the 25th and 26th
third week: closed Thursday and Friday again
fourth week: could not get in Friday (see my 1/9/04 blog)
fifth week: a full week ... that is unusual
sixth week: mlk day
not that I mind having a lot of long weekends, just that I do not get paid for them. :-)

How DC responds to a dusting of snow

* some, umm, brainless person, decided he could speed through and wound up on the subway tracks near my stop to get to work

* they stopped the trains a few stops before that and did a shuttle service using busses

* I got onto the shuttle bus near someone else who takes the same commuter bus I do, we decided we would not make it but would need to take the next one

* the transit system was pulling drivers from everywhere so we had someone who did not know the roads in that area ... at one point the bus riders were asked how to get where we were going

* we hit an ice patch and the driver did not know how to get through it and took us back to the train stop where we boarded the bus

* talking to the other person who took the commuter bus, we decided we could not catch the next (last) commuter bus anyway

* traffic is slow and bumper-to-bumper anyway along the route we would take to work

* I just gave up and went home

* many schools are closed and such, so in my first 4 weeks of work I still have not been in the client's site (AOL) for 40 hours in one week (first week we were offsite one day for orientation, then the last two weeks both Thursday and Friday they were closed)
