| What else would I be writing on? |
| 09.11.03 (8:01 am) [edit] |
I have been watching some of the coverage of the memorials this morning. At one point I took a break to watch the Sci-Fi channel and an episode of Bablyon 5. The episode they chose was most appropriate: the 'dominant belief system' for Earth is demonstrated: a long line of people, all from different religions (or none). Ironically, the episode I was expecting to be on there today was the last one of the series, which overall contained a feeling of hope, even though it was ending some things. Which was more appropriate? That is an interesting question.
Ob random 9/11/01 memories: At the time I was working just outside of DC on a White House contract ... when we heard about potential attacks there we knew the people that were being evacuated. My partner and I live just south of the Pentagon. She managed to get a ride home that day, but I took a train that runs under that attacked building. The next morning the smoke from the crash was in everything in the halls of our appartment building. Since we are just south of the Pentagon, that also means we are near National Airport as well. Until flights resumed there, something I was used to (planes always in the air around me) just suddenly stopped. What really gelled the events for me was one scene on TV. All it was was a shot of a single shoe in the pile of rubble in NYC.
